Jeanne is
a trained classical
pianist who has been performing in public
since the age of 7. She
received her early training in Ohio,
studying with Lucy Chu of Columbus
and Barbara Wasson of Dayton. Upon
moving to the Washington, D.C.
area, she continued her studies in high
school with Suzanne Guy. Jeanne made
her orchestral debut with the Cincinnati
Symphony at the
age of 12. She also appeared as
soloist with the Columbus
Symphony, Northern Virginia Symphony and
New River Valley Symphony
Orchestras. She gave several solo
recitals, where she also
performed on the flute and string
bass. She appeared in joint
recital with her sister, Karen, on several
occasions.
Upon graduating from high school, many
people expected Jeanne to pursue a concert
career, so it was surprising when she
turned down a scholarship to the Eastman
School of
Music. She chose to attend Virginia
Tech on full scholarship,
studying
with Mary Louise Hallauer. She
received her B.A. in Piano
Performance from Virginia Tech in 1991,
and went on to earn a Master of
Elementary Education degree from Marymount
University in Arlington,
Virginia, in 1992.
Jeanne has worked as a music teacher for
Bedford County (Virginia)
Schools and is currently the Music
Minister at Holy
Name of Mary
Catholic Church in Bedford and Music
Coordinator for Resurrection
Catholic Church in Moneta.
Upon taking the position at Holy Name of
Mary
in
2000, she discovered that she could
sing. Jeanne performs as a
soprano for church services, weddings,
funerals and other special
occasions. She is in demand as an
accompanist, and continues to perform
occasionally in concert on the piano, most
recently as part of the 2-piano, 8-hand
ensemble also featuring Naomi Amos,
Noémi Szigeti Lee and Anna
Billias. In her spare time, Jeanne
enjoys learning Spanish and running.
She qualified for and ran the 2011 Boston
Marathon. Jeanne
is
married to Eddie and is the proud mother
of Billy, Andy and Carrie. As a
family, they enjoy trail running, hiking,
church activities, water sports and
camping.
