Reconciliation
Confession on Wednesdays at 5:45 PM or by appointment.

Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism may be celebrated privately or during a regular scheduled Mass.  After calling the parish office for arrangements, parents are scheduled for an interview at that time.  Baptisms for older children are arranged through the Faith Formation Office.  Adult Baptisms and instructions in the Faith are part of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

Confirmation
Preparation for Confirmation is a year-long process in the 10th grade.  Reception of the Sacrament usually occurs in the Spring.  Candidates will participate in weekend workshops, a retreat and community service work.  A recent copy of the candidate's baptismal certificate is required.  Sponsors for Confirmation must be 16 years of age or older, Catholic, and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.  If the sponsor does not belong to Holy Name of Mary, a letter is needed from their parish stating that he/she is an active and practicing Catholic.

Religious Vocations
Please contact our priest or deacon to help answer any questions you may have, or the Diocesan link below.

Annointing of the Sick
Please contact the parish office so that a visit can be arranged as soon as possible.  Anyone who is sick or homebound may make arrangements to receive the Eucharist regularly by contacting the Parish Office.

First Communion and First Reconciliation
Children and parents take part in a preparation program before these Sacraments.  Formal preparation for First Eucharist and First Reconciliation is a two-year process, usually culminating in reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the winter and First Eucharist in May of their 2nd grade school year.  Children need to be enrolled in the Parish Faith Formation program, have faith formation as part of their home school program or have attended Catholic school their 1st grade year.  All children need to be enrolled in the Parish Religious Education program their 2nd grade year.  Children starting after 1st grade may need special instruction.  A recent copy of the candidate's baptismal certificate is required.  Contact the Faith Formation Office for more information.

Marriage
Couples wishing to initiate this process should make an appointment with Father Salvador or Deacon Ray.  They should allow at least 6 months preparation period for this Sacrament.  Wedding dates cannot be scheduled until this process has been initiated.  A Marriage Preparation Program is required by the Diocese.  Please contact our priest or deacon to make an appointment.

Catholics who have experienced Divorce
There is much misunderstanding about the status of Catholics who have experienced divorce.  At Holy Name of Mary, we want to assist such Catholics to clarify or, if necessary, resolve their relationship with the Church.

Catholics who are divorced, but not remarried, are in good standing with the Church.  There is nothing to prevent them from receiving the Sacraments or participating fully in the life of the parish.  This is true regardless of their status during their marriage.  A Catholic who was married out of the Church is no longer excommunicated.  All that is necessary is to receive the Sacrament of Penance and everything can be resolved.

Catholics who have married again, without the blessing of the Church, may be able to rectify their situation through the annulment process.  Members of the Pastoral Staff at Holy Name of Mary will assist them with this.  It is not nearly as difficult as it once was.  The Tribunal of the Diocese of Richmond is very pastorally oriented and will assist to the fullest extent possible.  There are no fees associated with the annulment process in the Diocese of Richmond.

If you have experienced divorce and have any questions or concerns, please contact a member of the Pastoral Staff.  We will be happy to talk with you and assist in any way we can.
